Everyone knows that Apple and Samsung are the largest companies in the smartphone industry at this point in time. They have been direct competitors for years and have been racing to become the leader in this market. For many years, Apple has been seen as the leader in creativity and quality, but in terms of market share, Samsung has dominated. So what is the best choice for you? In this article, we will write about Apple vs. Samsung and use their latest phones to compare this fierce competition between these two big brands. This way, you will know which smartphone to opt for and what personalised phone case you should design!
The American company is known for its design and reliability. At one point, no company compared to Apple’s innovation and their ability to design the best smartphones on the market. When Steve Jobs announced the first iPhone, which was seen as one of the first smartphones, no one expected it to change the mobile phone market the way it did. Fast forward roughly 9 years later and Apple is still seen as one of the best smartphone manufacturers in the game. However, due to poor financial results in Q1 2016, investors are beginning to question the company. Tim Cook, Apple’s current CEO, has launched the iPhone SE and the iPad 9.7 inch with the hopes of gaining more traction for the company. These products are expected to have a larger impact on the company in Q2 2016.
At the beginning, it seemed like Samsung would be outplayed by other Android competitors since many consumers disliked the cheap plastic quality of the Galaxy smartphone lineup. However, with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and S7, everything changed and Samsung managed to grab a hold of the mobile market once more. The S7 design was highly praised and provided several features that were missing from the Galaxy S6. Unlike Apple, Samsung’s early 2016 financial numbers are positive and have investors looking their way.
To be able to say something about the recent developments of Apple and Samsung, we will look at the specifications of the showpieces of the giants. The iPhone 6 is currently ultimate device from Apple and Samsung is the Samsung S7.
From a memory point of view, Samsung definitely has the upper hand. The customer has the option to choose between a 32 GB or 64 GB model and can add up to 200 GB with an external microSD card. The iPhone 6S, on the other hand, can be purchased with 16 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB built in.

Both the Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6S have similar designs to their predecessors. Internal specifications were changed, however externally, they look almost identical. The only huge difference in terms of design is that the S7 is waterproof. You can hold your phone under water for approximately 20 minutes without sustaining damage. This is something that the iPhone 6S cannot do, but according to rumours, Apple will be making the iPhone 7 waterproof. Regarding the device’s weight, the iPhone 6S is lighter than the S7, which is expected from an Apple device. Apple often prides themselves on just how thin and light they can make their devices.
Between the two, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has the bigger screen. It has a 5.1 inch screen compared to the 4.7 inch iPhone 6S screen. While this is not significantly different, the S7 is the winner due to a higher resolution, with 2560 x 1440 pixels at 577 DPI compared to the iPhone 6S’s 1334 x 750 pixels at 326 PPI. However, the S7 does not have a 3D touch display, unlike the iPhone 6S, however many critics are saying that 3D touch display has not yet reached its potential and is somewhat of a gimmick at this point.
Camera specs on both phones are almost the same. Both devices feature a 5 MP on the front and a 12 MP camera on the back. However, the S7 has an f / 1.7 aperture compared to an f / 2.2 aperture on the iPhone 6S, meaning that the Galaxy can take better photos at night.
When comparing all of these facts, it seems like the Samsung Galaxy S7 wins against the iPhone 6S. Samsung should be able to maintain their strong grasp on the smartphone market for a while, perhaps until the iPhone 7 is released. According to rumours, it will be released in June, however we all know that Apple always releases its flagship phones in September every year. Only time can tell how well the iPhone 7 is received!
