Honor has just turned two (as an independent brand from Huawei) and what better way to celebrate than by releasing a brand new phone: the Honor 8. After the previous model was released, we wondered what could be improved and if the new model would be worth buying. Let's take a look at the new phone.
The new handset is rich in features, both basic and more advanced. The Honor 7 was released at a good budget price of £250, but the Honor 8 is now priced at £369.99. It is quite a jump and a shame it's not quite in the same price range anymore. This is the same pricing strategy as Apple and Samsung have previously used.
It is a fairly standard android phone with a 5.2" LCD screen with full HD resolution, a Hisilicon Kirin 950 8-core processor with 4GB of RAM. It also has an internal memory of 32GB and a microSD slot for storage expansion, perfect for storing photos or videos and applications.
The cameras are relatively good for this price range. The two rear cameras are 12MP with a dual flash and the front camera is 8MP. It is capable of recording in Full HD video at up to 60 frames per second, perfect for capturing good quality videos.
Another advantage of Honor 8 is the fingerprint reader. It is not something new, but it is now improved: you can click it.
The most striking aspect of the phone is undoubtedly the metal finishing and polished glass, which gives it a sense of robustness while reflecting everything about the Honor 8. However, this polished glass is also a problem: it is one of the most slippery phones on the market! In your hand nothing happens, but it is dangerous resting on smooth surfaces, as it can easily slide onto the floor!
That is why Honor 8 is synonymous with "buy yourself a case, and do it fast". Not only because it is so slippery, but because it can easily be scratched. We do not yet have covers for the Honor 8, although they will be coming soon to GoCustomized!
