If you’ve ever knocked a drink over on your smartphone, your first reaction was undoubtedly panic with a side of internal screaming. You invest a lot of money into your mobile phone and the last thing that you want to see is it being damaged. Wet mobile phones are definitely repairable, unless it ends up at the bottom of a lake. These types of accidents are inevitable, but there are some tips that can help you bring your smartphone back to life. Keep reading and learn more!
The most important thing is to get your phone out of the water as soon as possible. If your device was only exposed to a few drops, you can just dry it off with a cloth or towel. If your phone has been submerged in water, take it out right away. There’s still a chance to save it!
The first rule to understand is to never turn your phone on. Why? Because there’s a chance that your phone will short circuit. Being impatient will end up destroying your wet mobile phone, permanently.
If you’re skilled in repairs, you could try remove each component one by one and dry them. You can put these parts on a tower to dry. Letting the towel absorb the excess water is probably the best thing to do in the short term. If you’re not handy, then we recommend bringing your phone in for repairs.
Another tip – never use a blow dryer on your wet mobile phone. The heat could melt or permanently damage some parts. What you could try is a vacuum cleaner, but not too close, because it could ignite some sort of electrical surge.
Surely, you’ve heard of this before and many of your friends may consider it an urban legend, but it could also end up saving your phone. Put each individual part into a bowl of rice and cover them from any light. Depending on how long your mobile phone was exposed to water, it could take between 24 and 48 hours. However, take your time and leave it, because it’s better to take your time rather than rushing repairs.
There are, of course, other ways of damaging your phone. A wet mobile phone is the least of your concerns, because there’s always a high chance that your device will accidentally slip out of your hands and crack on the ground. The perfect way to fix this would be to prevent it from ever happening in the first place. Personalised phone cases are easily the best way to protect the back and the sides of your device from being permanently damaged and they will save you any repairing costs in the future!
So follow these steps and with a little luck, you’ll have your beloved mobile phone up and running again! If we missed any good tips, let us know in the comment section below!
