With the hype of the iPhone 7 dying down, we want to take this opportunity to take a look at some of the rumours surrounding the new Samsung Galaxy S8. Right now, Apple and Samsung are dominating the smartphone market and most people have allegiances with one side or the other. Personally, I am a Samsung fan, so I’m looking forward to what we can expect from the South Korean giant. Read on for the latest Samsung Galaxy S8 rumours…
Unfortunately, rumours will always be rumours until we get an official release statement from Samsung, but it’s always fun to see what people are saying online. With various sources often providing solid information, let’s have a look at what the latest is.
At the moment, it sounds like Samsung will be moving forward with a 2K retina display. We did see some rumours that they’d go ahead with a 4K version, but with 4k mobile content lacking, it seems like it would be a bit overkill at this point. It will likely be a 5.5” or 5.7” AMOLED display for the standard version and a 6.2” screen for the 8 Edge.
We’ve seen a few different ideas for this one, but they mainly revole around a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 or 835 processor. Compare that with the S7’s Snapdragon 820 processor and we’ll be sure to see a jump in the speed of use of the handset.
3) Cameras, ports, and jacks
This is where things start to get a bit more interesting. The cameras are expected to get a new upgrade with many believing that Samsung will introduce dual cameras (possibly just for the S8 Plus). Of course, the selfie camera will be slightly upgraded as well.
Earlier this year, the Galaxy Note 7 saw the introduction of the USB Type-C port, a faster charging method, as well as providing a much faster transfer rate. It is expected that Samsung will bring this feature to the S8, which will definitely be a great addition.
Now for something which is sure to divide users. As we saw with the introduction of Apple’s latest handsets, it is rumoured that the S8 will also be dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack. This was a decision by Apple which definitely caused a lot of outrage and isn’t necessarily the most convenient outcome. Although I’m sure it’s just technology moving forward, and sooner or later people will adapt, it is certain to cause issues with lots of users.
That wraps up our rumour mill for this week. Whether or not any of these outcomes will be true when it comes to the final product is yet to be seen, but for now it is looking like it will be another great handset from Samsung.
