Review: Sony Xperia XA1 Edition

Are you looking for a new mobile phone that is decently priced? Are you unsure about which mobile phone best fits your needs and are looking for information about the new Sony Xperia XA1?

We have summarized the most important information about the new Sony smartphone - just keep reading!

Design and display

The famous Japanese company is again using the well known design of this smartphone. The new Xperia XA1 also has square edges and is immediately recognized as a Sony mobile phone. The angular design makes the handling rather uncomfortable compared to mobile phones with rounded edges.

Sony has used a plastic back panel for the Xperia XA1 while the front is covered with gorilla glass that is slightly rounded to the edges. Overall, the smartphone is very long and slim and feels, despite the plastic,  high-quality and it does not slip.

The Sony Xperia XA1 has a 5.0 inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. This gives a pixel density of 295 ppi. Content is rendered by the Xperia XA1 in HD quality and colors appear saturated and powerful. However, the screen loses its luminosity very quickly when viewing it at slanted angles.

System and memory

Compared to its predecessor, the Sony Xperia XA, the performance of the Xperia XA1 has improved. A new MediaTek processor is used here and the working memory has grown from 2 GB in the Xperia XA to 3 GB in the XA1. In addition, 32 GB of memory, which can be expanded with a microSD card up to 256 GB. However, apps can not be completely exported to the microSD card. The smartphone also works with Android OS 7.0 nougat and comes with some pre-installed software.

Camera

The camera could be called one of the best features of this phone. The Sony Xperia XA1 has a whopping 23 megapixels - making sure your phones are of the highest resolution! Besides having a digital 5x zoom and the Sony hybrid auto focus, it also has a few additional features such as smile recognition and an HDR mode. The selfie camera does not disappoint with eight megapixels, however it does not have the LED flash capabilities like the front camera.

Battery pack

The new Sony smartphone comes with a permanently installed rechargeable battery with 2300 mAh and quick charge function. According to the manufacturer, this is enough for a useful life of up to two days, but realistically it is probably only one day. Overall, the battery performance is not exactly high, even for a mid-class smartphone.

Colors and price

The Sony Xperia XA1 is not only available in black and white, but also in gold and pink. With a price of 279 pounds the price / performance ratio is probably still within a reasonable framework.
